Description
Glued laminated timber (gluelams) is the timber produced by gluing two or more pieces of wood in layers, with the fibers of all the pieces parallel to each other and lengthwise.
Glulam widths and thicknesses vary and are produced in long lengths (typically 12m – 13m, even 24m+), and their shape can be straight or curved.
Main advantages of Gluelams:
Production of various dimensions – cross-sections (lengths / widths / thicknesses)
Improved mechanical strengths compared to simple building timber
Use in demanding constructions
Use in structures with large spans without support

Impregnated wood is called wood that has undergone chemical treatment and carries in its mass protective chemical substances in order to protect against microorganisms, bacteria & fungi that cause the wood to deteriorate, especially when exposed to weather conditions or in an environment with high humidity.
The impregnation process is done by vacuum pressure with special solvents that penetrate to the heart of the wood.
